7 Unanswered Questions About the New House of The Dragon Trailer
The iron Throne prequel Dragon House recently released their new trailer, and let’s be honest, it looks awesome. The trailer gives a small preview of what’s to come in House of The Dragon Season 1, and there are plenty of questions burning in the back of our heads. These questions will eventually be answered when the show arrives in August. In the meantime, let’s talk about some of those questions that were left unanswered in the trailer.
Why was there a Maester with Otto Hightower facing Daemon Targaryen?
Those who have read Fire & Blood already know that Daemon and Otto don’t really agree. The scene depicted in the clip shows Daemon with a dragon egg, followed by Mysaria and his men. He is confronted by Otto, the Kingsguard and a Maester, presumably on behalf of King Viserys who did not want Daemon to give his young mistress a dragon egg. However, the presence of a Maester does not add up in this situation, especially when there is a possibility of a fight breaking out.
Dragon flying over King’s Landing: Sunfyre?
In the very first shot that involves a dragon, we see a medium-sized dragon flying over King’s Landing. Slowing down the clip a bit shows the color of his scales, which glow golden yellow in the sunlight. That’s Sunfyre with Aegon II on its back?
Who are the characters that stray from Rhaenyra at the Dragonstone table?
In a clip that was teased by HBO just before the trailer was released, we see a seemingly tense Rhaenyra deep in thought at a familiar-looking table in Dragonstone, and four people walking away from her, including one appears to be his aunt Rhaenys Targaryen. The other 3 have black hair, and from the leaks we’ve seen on filming sites, we know that Rhaenyra’s children have black hair. Are these 3 his teenage sons? Or someone else?
What does the box presented at Harrenhal contain?
There’s a shot with particular emphasis on a mysterious box being carried through the halls of Harrenhal. Judging by its appearance, the contents of the box must be really special. What’s in the box? Dragon eggs? Severed heads of enemies? A highly anticipated copy of Winds of Winter?
Who is in the sarcophagus during the funeral ceremony at Driftmark?
In one of the moving scenes, we see a sarcophagus being lowered into the waters as part of Velaryon’s funeral ceremony. There’s no indication of who’s body is in the stone coffin, but we do see an angry Rhaenyra and a somewhat guilty Alicent at the end of this scene.
Who is knocked down by the Kingsguard?
There is a very short sequence where we see someone being dragged and thrown to the ground by the Kingsguard. Who is he? Judging by his hair, it looks like he’s either a Velaryon or a Targaryen, but his face isn’t very clear to be sure.
Daemon meets Caraxes?
At the end of the trailer, Daemon is seen inspecting the floor of a blood-soaked cave. Then we see a dragon spitting fire and roaring at him. Is it Caraxes? The dim light from Daemon’s torch makes it hard to tell the color of his scales, but if we stop the scene and look at his wing, we see a reddish tint.
