Baraboo’s house catches fire on Sunday morning | Baraboo News Republic
A house in Baraboo was declared a total loss following a fire on Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to the house fire on Ash Street in the city at around 5.21am to find heavy fire spreading to the right side of the two-story residence adjacent to a carport which was also on fire . The fire spread to the attic of the home, Baraboo Fire Chief Kevin Stieve said.
A neighbor who notified Baraboo Fire and Police also advised the occupant of the house to evacuate. No injuries were reported to occupants or firefighters.
The occupants were being assisted by the local Salvation Army, Stieve said.
Along with the house, the contents of the burned carport were declared a total loss.
The Baraboo Fire and Police Department was investigating the blaze.
The Baraboo Fire Department responded with two trucks, a scissor lift and a 16-person heavy rescue team. The Mutual Aid Box (MABAS) alarm system was also activated and additional personnel and equipment were provided by the fire departments of Reedsburg, Prairie du Sac, Merrimac, Sauk City, Portage and Plain, as well as the Kilbourn Fire Department in Wisconsin Dells.
Baraboo District Ambulance Service and Reedsburg Ambulance also responded to the scene.
