Barco and Igloo Vision to offer shared VR experiences

Barco has partnered with Igloo Vision, a creator of immersive spaces, to deliver shared VR experiences.

From bases in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, Igloo Vision has delivered hundreds of immersive workspace installations worldwide for applications such as simulation, visualization and collaboration.

The company builds its immersive spaces using an Igloo Vision media player, which includes software capable of transforming any room into a shared VR experience. To view content, the Igloo team works with system integrators and viewing hardware vendors, such as Barco.

Jake Rowland, Business Development Manager EMEA at Igloo Vision, said: “We had an interesting conversation with the Barco team at ISE 2022 in Barcelona about their shared VR visualization solutions. We want to make our technology available to everyone around the world. By working with Barco, we are expanding our reach and making it easier to access and set up immersive shared spaces.

Richard Marples, Commercial Director of Immersive Experiences at Barco, added: “Barco’s expertise with high-end Canvas and CAVE systems strongly complements Igloo’s vision on shared VR experiences. Both companies have a strong focus on immersive viewing and improving collaboration everywhere, so it’s an ideal partnership.

Since the combination, Barco and Igloo Vision have provided workspaces for a major sports brand and a renowned university.
