House hunters joke about £799,000 ‘messy mansion’ that could use Kirstie and Phil’s help to sell

A property on the market for £799,950 has people claiming it needs the help of Rent, Rent, Rent stars Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer to sell – because it’s full of a mess

The house looks grand from the outside

House hunters have been left baffled by the condition of a £799,950 mansion for sale in Macclesfield, Cheshire, as owners put it on the market with photos showing it full of clutter.

Internet users laughed at the house after seeing it on property websites and said TV stars Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer – who have helped countless people sell their homes through shows such as Location, Location, Location – should have been brought in to help the current owners clean up.

If you ignore the mess inside the house, the five-bed property is an impressive find – as long as you can afford the nearly £800,000 price tag.

In addition to the five bedrooms, the house also has two kitchens, a living room, a dining room, an office, a bathroom and a laundry room on the ground floor plus a cellar.

All bedrooms are located on the first floor with a bathroom and separate toilet, while the converted loft has been divided into five further rooms meaning the property has the potential for 10 bedrooms.

The property listing describes it as a “blank canvas”, but potential buyers couldn’t look past the amount of clutter visible in the photos provided on Rightmove.

The owners also left the room in a state

Oddly, the owners also didn’t take out the trash before taking pictures of their property, as there are piles of trash bags in the living room and even more trash in the kitchens.

One Twitter user joked, “Hi Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer.

“I can’t help but think these people haven’t presented their homes in the best light on Rightmove. Any advice?”

While another said: ‘The point is that the rooms themselves appear to be in good condition and relatively recently refurbished. But yes.”

There are two kitchens – but they need work

The property listing reads: “Demanding standard of workmanship in this listed detached house provides a rich history and a blank canvas for any potential buyer.

“Set in approximately 0.5 acres, the property has significant period features throughout the well-appointed accommodation.

‘Entered through one of the three entrance porches, the ground floor accommodation offers multi-purpose spaces with kitchen, utility room, three reception rooms and a ground floor bathroom and additional toilet.

“Upstairs the house benefits from five good sized bedrooms with additional shower room with the top floor currently used as an attic but ideal for further development with the large cellar with vaulted ceilings.

“Externally the gated plot offers a high level of privacy and ample off road parking with carport, a two storey brick garage with storage space on the lower ground floor.

“The rear garden needs some maintenance and also has a large terrace ideal for entertaining as well as two sheds ideal for storage.

“Situated a short distance from Macclesfield with the wide range of local shops, bars and restaurants the market town has to offer.”
