Jonah Hill buys Malibu Colony’s second home – DIRT

Just over a year ago, Jonah Hill bought a contemporary home on the “land side” of Malibu Colony for $9 million. Now, records show the Oscar-nominated actor just doled out nearly $15.5 million for another residence in the same guarded enclave, this one on the “beach” side, right on a desirable stretch of sand offering a picturesque view of the ocean.

Homed for decades by the late Paul and Joan Almond – he a Canadian filmmaker and she a noted photographer – Hills’ most recent acquisition was originally listed at $16.9 million in November 2021 before eventually going to the star of “Moneyball” with a big discount.

Nestled on a compact 0.16 acre lot, the three-story stucco and wood-shingle structure is separated from the street in front by a two-car garage, brick driveway and gated entrance. Built in the 1930s and updated over the years, the traditionally styled home has four bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms in 3,100 square feet of sunny but decidedly dated living space.

Highlights include a fireside living room with a vaulted wood-beamed ceiling, which flows through wide arched doorways to a formal dining room and family room. There is also a galley-style kitchen fitted with green-hued cabinetry and newer stainless steel appliances. A curved staircase leads upstairs, where the master suite features an ocean-view balcony, walk-in closet, and soaking tub with two vanities and a tiled rain shower.

Elsewhere is a cozy den heated by a wood-burning stove and an office space which, according to the listing, could easily be converted into a gym/yoga room; and outside, a spacious brick patio with a covered alfresco dining area is flanked by a wooden deck with steps leading directly to the sand.

In addition to his two Malibu Colony getaways, Hill also owns a loft in New York’s Manhattan borough that’s in receivership to be sold for just under $11 million.
