KoolTunes Igloo Cooler | High Consumption
In 1989, Playmate introduced the KoolTunes By Igloo, a pink and teal hardtop cooler equipped with a pair of built-in speakers and an AM/FM radio. And although the KoolTunes hasn’t been in production for over three decades, the company has now opted to relaunch the product, albeit in a more contemporary form with the new, retro-inspired KoolTunes Bluetooth Stereo Cooler.
Inspired directly by Igloo’s original speaker-equipped cooler, the revived KoolTunes Cooler retains its predecessor’s unapologetically distinctive teal and pink colors of the 80s/90s, as well as its original yellow branding. Like the first version, the new Bluetooth variant contains a pair of built-in 5-watt circular speakers on one side and a control panel on the other. IP56 certified for water and dust resistance, the KoolTunes also features an included 3′ USB charging cable, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and 10 hours of music playback on a single charge thanks to a internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Capable of holding up to 26 12oz cans, the cooler itself features Igloo’s eco-friendly THERMECOOL foam insulation as well as the brand’s trademark designs on the tent top and button- side pushers. Measuring 14.57″ L x 10.91″ W x 13.9″ H, the cooler also features a secure swing lid and molded handles. Despite the cooler’s thin walls – and the fact that they house a built-in pair of portable Bluetooth speakers – the use of modern insulation allows the KoolTunes to keep beverages or perishable foods cool for hours.
The new Igloo KoolTunes Bluetooth Stereo Cooler is available now, with a price tag set at $150.
