Most popular dog names in 2021

The pandemic was the prime time for picking up puppies. In fact, shelters across the United States were running out of dogs entirely thanks to the surge in new work-from-home policies. And while the decision to have a furry pal might have been an easy one, picking the name? Not really. This is why Rover made us all a solid and released the most popular dog names of the year.

As part of its annual ranking, the dog walking platform has compiled a list of the best dog names after looking at its own range of users.

“To better understand the stories these names must tell us about the people, places and stories that have defined the past year, we delved into our database of over one million pet parents on Rover. to reveal the most popular dog names of 2021, ”the company said in a blog post. “We discovered everything from ever popular dog names to hot new ones and completely unique names that we never saw coming.”

If you’re looking to get a little creative (it can get confusing when there are four Bichon Lucies at the dog park), Rover has also unearthed a few ready-made favorites, most of which, unsurprisingly, were themed on pandemic, like Fauci, Covid, Zoom and Pfizer. Rover has also seen an increase in Olympic-themed names, like Katie, Tom, Naomi, Suni and Simone.
