A former council property on the River Wensum – which has been lovingly converted – is on the market with a guide price of £325,000-£350,000.
The four-bedroom terraced property in Hellesdon Road has been converted into a loft and faces a row of mature trees, behind which meanders the River Wensum.
Andy Dickerson, branch manager at Winkworth in Hellesdon – which markets the property – said it was a “secret gem”.
“You can get to the river in about 10 seconds,” he added.
“We haven’t had a lot of interest yet because people assume it’s just an old council house, but there’s a lot more to it.
“There is a loft conversion and the seller has converted the old garage into a studio. It does not have a planning app so can only be used for personal use.”
The property is close to Marriott’s Way and the river but still close to downtown and also has an outbuilding which has been converted.
‘I think it makes a nice big family home because it’s already quite spacious,’ Mr Dickerson continued.
“It could be in first-time buyer territory if they have decent jobs – it could be within reach.
“As it is a former local authority it was well built but the owners obviously took care of it too and did a lot of work inside.
“The pictures don’t do it justice.
“There is a 19 foot living room with a back garden room and a separate dining room.
“There’s this out-of-town life, but the ease of access when you need it. It’s the best of both worlds.
“The property is a secret gem because people have underestimated its potential.
“People can’t necessarily see everything there. They don’t understand that for £325,000 to £350,000 you get four bedrooms with a loft conversion, a lovely garden and that’s close to the river.
“The studio at the back has been used as a party room or as a place to stay. It has a kitchenette, toilet and shower – it’s really great.”
