The spring open doors will be held in Paris on Friday and Saturday
PARIS, Tenn. — A local chamber goes above and beyond to support its local businesses for a second consecutive year.
The Paris-Henry Department Chamber of Commerce is preparing its Spring Open Days and the second edition of Shop Small Crawl.
Community Relations Manager Kasey Muench says she is thrilled with the opportunity this will bring to local businesses in downtown Paris.
“We had a lot of success last year with that. Many shoppers came in, local shoppers and even some from out of town. So we are delighted to have him back, to have a great weekend for our shops, boutiques and restaurants in downtown Paris,” Muench said.
Twenty-two participating restaurants, stores and boutiques are listed on a map for Shop Small Crawl.
At these businesses, starting Friday, you can buy one and start shopping to benefit not only the local business, but you can also be rewarded with a prize.
“What happens is that when you make a purchase at one of these stores, you get a punch. And the more hits you get, the better your chances of getting a prize,” Muench said. “And if you get all your punches, we’ll give you a $25 downtown gift certificate.”
Mary Beth Puckett is the owner of My Favorite Things in downtown Paris, and she’s looking forward to the big weekend ahead.
She thinks it’s an opportunity to show people that they don’t always have to shop the big box to find exactly what they need.
“Maybe it gives someone who may not have been downtown for My Favorite Things a chance to come in and see what we offer. We offer everything from gourmet coffees to registers from weddings, to baby registries. We offer clothing, candles, gourmet foods. A lot of people might not know what we’re carrying,” Puckett said.
Puckett says shopping at home is so important when it comes to sustaining the local economy as well.
“I like to think of the dollar circle. When someone comes and spends a dollar here, they pay sales tax on it and it goes back to our community and in return it helps me with sales so I can give back to the community in fundraising,” Puckett said.
Spring Open House is Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
You will need to make purchases within this time to be entered into the Shop Small Crawl draw.
You can pick up and drop off your card at any of the companies listed. The winners will be announced on Monday.
