Woodland Opera House hosts memorial concert for former teacher – The Vacaville Reporter

On January 10, James Glica-Hernandez died of complications from COVID-19. He has long been a teacher and mentor, as well as a musical director at Woodland Opera House.

To honor his legacy, a group of his friends and alumni hosted a musical night at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Woodland Opera House.

Glica-Hernandez had an impact on everyone he met and especially on his students to whom he instilled a love of music and a sense of discipline and professionalism.

The concert will benefit a scholarship created in his name, the James Glica-Hernandez Memorial Scholarship. A goal of $ 20,000 is set and the scholarship funds will be used to enable young artists in Yolo County who otherwise may not be able to afford lessons through the Woodland Opera. House Education Department. The proceeds of the scholarship will be awarded at each session to young artists based on their needs, talent and commitment to studying music, dance and theater.
